The second part of the exploration of Newfoundland was to go to the Northern central part of the island. We stayed in Trinity, Twillingate, and Fogo. There were many other spots explored. Dildo was the first. They have a great brewery there. We chatted with a few local men on the docks there. We then headed to Trinity. It is a quiet village. While there the set of “The Shipping News” movie was nearby in New Bonaventure.
The Skerwink Trail is a spectacular trail along the cliffs. We hiked there and followed it with a stop at Port Rexton Brewery for lunch. Their specialty is the grilled cheese sandwich. The rest of the day was spent in Bonavista.
From Trinity we headed to one of the highlights of the trip, Twillingate. There are many great hiking trails. We did a few of them, along with sunset and sunrise photographing. After a couple of days, we finished this part of the trip by heading over to Fogo Island.
The arrival day was clear but windy. We encountered a rare bad weather day on the second day. It was not bad enough to stop photographing and it cleared in the afternoon. We had a long trek to western Newfoundland and had to leave on the early ferry.
I really would like to go back and explore this area some more.
